Arrive early in the day: spaces are first come, first served. Most vans clear the 2.15 metre arch; larger ones should park elsewhere.
Edinburgh Hotels With Parking (2026)
Edinburgh hotels with parking, grouped by how you park: central hotels with their own car park or valet, central hotels with a partner car park, hotels outside the Low Emission Zone, and free parking at the edge of the city. Each has the parking charge, the booking rules and a dated room rate.
Edinburgh hotels with parking what it costs, whether to book, and the Low Emission Zone
Parking at a central Edinburgh hotel is possible, but only a handful have their own car park. My short answer for a central stay is Apex Grassmarket, £20 a day with six EV chargers, or Travelodge Edinburgh Central on St Mary's Street at £18. If your car is older, or you just want an easy drive in, stay outside the Low Emission Zone: The Roseate or the Bonham in the West End, JA The Bruntsfield at £12.50 a night, or Malmaison in Leith, where parking is free. This page is about the car. If you haven't chosen an area yet, start with where to stay in Edinburgh, and for car park tariffs, Park & Ride and LEZ fines, see our parking guide.
The Low Emission Zone covers the city centre: the Old Town, the New Town up to Queen Street, and the West End as far as Palmerston Place. It has been enforced by cameras since 1 June 2024, and it applies to hire cars and visitors: petrol cars need to meet Euro 4 and diesels Euro 6. The council says the boundary roads themselves are outside the zone. Each hotel below is marked inside or outside the zone, going by the council's boundary map. The hotels are grouped by how you park: central with their own car park or valet, central with a partner car park, outside the zone and easy to drive to, and free parking at the edge of the city. Parking terms come from each hotel's own site in September 2026. Room rates are off-peak midweek, dated on each card, and Edinburgh's 5% visitor levy applies to stays from 24 July 2026; where a rate includes it, I say so, and where a card doesn't mention it, allow up to 5% more.
Book early if your dates fall in August, during the Fringe and the festivals, or at Hogmanay. Room prices then run two to four times the off-peak rate, so book six to nine months ahead, and the free car parks fill as quickly as the rooms.
Travelodge Edinburgh Central
Central, with a car park of its own. Seven hotels within about 20 minutes' walk of the Royal Mile park your car on their own premises or have a valet take it. All seven sit inside the Low Emission Zone, so the car has to meet the standard. Travelodge Edinburgh Central on St Mary's Street is the cheapest way to have a central bed and the car in the same building. Its car park costs £18 for 24 hours, there are two lifts, and St Giles' is nine minutes' walk up the hill, Waverley eight. For Tuesday 10 November the room itself cost £84.99 on the non-refundable rate. More in the best hotels in the Old Town.
Spaces can't be reserved, so a late arrival on a Friday may find the car park full. The entrance is under a 2.15 metre arch: most vans fit, larger ones don't. The hotel's page doesn't mention the visitor levy, so allow up to 5% more on the room, and expect plain rooms, uneven housekeeping and thin walls.
Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh City Centre
Radisson Blu Hotel, Edinburgh City Centre is the Royal Mile hotel with its own car park, and the only one within five minutes of the Waverley platforms where you park the car yourself. Behind the baronial front at 80 High Street are 238 rooms, an indoor pool, the Sleeping Beauty Spa and the Itchycoo bar, with the Castle about ten minutes uphill. A standard room was about £122 for Tuesday 2 February 2027, and about £190 on autumn dates. More in the best hotels in the Old Town.
The car park takes nothing over 2.10 metres and the daily charge isn't published, so ask about both when you book. Rooms on the High Street side get the late-night noise, so ask for one at the back.
Ask the price of parking when you book, since it isn't published. Anything taller than 2.10 metres, a roof box included, won't fit.
Apex Grassmarket Hotel
Apex Grassmarket Hotel is my pick for a driver who wants the Old Town without giving up the car or the facilities. Guest parking is £20 a day, first come, first served, and the car park has six EV charging points. Upstairs there's a heated indoor pool, a sauna and a gym, and the Castle View rooms face the rock. The esplanade is about five minutes away by the Castle Wynd steps and Waverley about 13. A double was about £139 off-peak midweek, checked 17 September. More in the best hotels in the Old Town.
The Grassmarket is where Edinburgh goes out at the weekend, and the front rooms hear it, so ask for the Castle side. Driving in means crossing the Low Emission Zone.
Plug in while you sleep: the car park has six EV charging points. Get there before evening, because spaces go to whoever arrives first.
Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood
Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood has parking above and below ground at £25 a day, first come, first served, with the Dynamic Earth car park across the road at a guest discount if it fills. There's an indoor pool and a gym, and it sits by the Scottish Parliament at the foot of the Royal Mile, a short walk from Holyrood Park. A king room was about £174 for a November Tuesday, or about £166 for Marriott Bonvoy members. More in the best hotels in the Old Town.
Holyrood Road is the edge of the Low Emission Zone and the hotel sits just inside the line, so treat it as in the zone; the Dynamic Earth car park across the road is on the outside of the line on the council's map. The walk is the cost: about 15 minutes to Waverley and 22 to the Castle, uphill all the way.
If the hotel's car park is full, the Dynamic Earth car park across the road gives hotel guests a discount.
Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh
Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa on Festival Square is the spa hotel with a car park, £25 a day or £5.95 an hour, with an EV charging station, at the Lothian Road end of the centre. It has One Spa, with a heated rooftop hydropool and a thermal suite, and One Square for dinner. Haymarket station is 12 minutes' walk and the Castle esplanade 19. A guest room was about £174 for Tuesday 17 November, taxes and fees included. More in hotels in the West End and Haymarket.
The hotel sits inside the zone, about 100 metres from its southern edge. The building is a 1980s block and some rooms look at the office next door, so ask for a Castle-facing floor.
Add a slot at One Spa's rooftop hydropool when you book; spa capacity is limited and charged separately.
W Edinburgh
W Edinburgh is the east-end option: parking is on site, run by St James Quarter, at £25 a day, or the valet takes the car for £40, and there's EV charging when a point is free. It's a 244-room hotel with the W Deck rooftop bar, SUSHISAMBA, an AWAY Spa and a 24-hour gym, seven minutes from Waverley and five from the Playhouse. A Deluxe king was £287 prepaid for Tuesday 10 November with a free Bonvoy account, or £338 flexible. More in the best hotels in the New Town.
It's a lifestyle hotel inside a shopping centre, and the price is high for an off-peak Tuesday. There's no pool and no pets are allowed. The hotel and its parking are inside the Low Emission Zone, close to its edge at Picardy Place.

Valet (£40) saves you the walk from the shopping-centre car park with bags. No pets.
The Balmoral
The Balmoral guarantees your car a space without asking you to book. You pull up at the door, a doorman takes the bags and the keys, and the valet charge of £40 a night goes on the room bill, with nothing charged for the day you check out. The Waverley escalators surface beside the front door, and inside are the Irene Forte spa and pool. A Classic room was £788 for Tuesday 10 November, room only. More in hotels near Waverley station.
At £788 it's by far the dearest room here, breakfast is £71 more, and a discretionary 5% service charge is added at checkout. The hotel itself warns that it's inside the Low Emission Zone. If you'd rather park yourself, it points drivers to the Q-Park on Greenside Row, five minutes' walk away.
Pull up at the main door on Princes Street and hand over the keys; nothing needs booking in advance.
Old Waverley Hotel
Central, with a partner car park. Most central hotels have no car park but will get you a cheaper rate at a multi-storey nearby, and each card gives the code. Old Waverley Hotel, opposite the Scott Monument, has a published guest rate: £14.40 for 24 hours at the Q-Park Omni on Greenside Row, 40% off, if you pre-book on Q-Park's site with the code OWH40. The car park is about five minutes' walk from the hotel and has EV chargers. A Junior Double was £134 plus £6.70 in taxes and fees for Tuesday 2 February 2027, £140.70 all in. More in hotels near Waverley station.
The £6.70 on top is the 5% levy, added at checkout. There's no lift from the street: reception is up 27 steps, with a lift to the floors above it, so anyone who can't manage stairs should book elsewhere. The Junior Doubles are 12 to 14 square metres, and the Omni sits inside the Low Emission Zone like the hotel.
Pre-book the Q-Park with code OWH40 before you arrive; the discount can't be added at the barrier. Ring the bell at the foot of the stairs and a porter carries the cases up.
The Scotsman Hotel
The Scotsman Hotel, the old newspaper building on North Bridge, has two deals and no car park. Pre-book the Q-Park Omni on Q-Park's website with the code SCTMNHTL24 for 45% off, or use the APCOA car park at Waverley, which can't be booked, and have reception validate the ticket for 20% off. Waverley is three minutes' walk and the Castle about eleven. A double was about £156 off-peak midweek, checked 17 September. More in the best hotels in the Old Town.
The front rooms face North Bridge's buses, so ask for the Old Town side. Both car parks are inside the Low Emission Zone, and the station one has a 1.9 metre height limit.
Pre-book Q-Park Omni with code SCTMNHTL24 for 45% off. For the station car park, take your ticket to reception to be validated.
Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh
Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh on Jeffrey Street is the cheap one with a car park across the road: the station's APCOA car park on New Street, where reception stamps your ticket for 20% off. A double was £91.80 for Tuesday 2 February 2027, room only and non-refundable, with the visitor levy already included; the flexible rate was £102. Waverley's Market Street exit is about three minutes' walk away, step-free. More in hotels near Waverley station.
Expect 290 business-plain rooms. The car park has a 1.9 metre height limit and sits inside the Low Emission Zone, and APCOA's full tariff is £25 a day before the discount. Late back? From 11pm you need your key card to reach the bedrooms.
Drop the bags at reception first, then park in the station car park across the road and have your ticket stamped.
Premier Inn Edinburgh Central (Lauriston Place)
Premier Inn Edinburgh Central (Lauriston Place) is the one central hotel where the partner car park is outside the Low Emission Zone. Pre-book the Q-Park at Capital Square on West Approach Road with the code PI30EDNLP for 30% off; by the council's map it sits just outside the zone's western edge, and the hotel is roughly 700 metres' walk away. A standard double was £101 non-refundable for Tuesday 10 November, levy included, or £139 flexible. More in the best hotels in the Old Town.
The hotel itself is inside the zone, so an older car should go straight to Capital Square rather than to the door. It's 16 minutes' walk to St Giles' and 20 to Waverley, check-in is strictly from 3pm, and breakfast costs extra.
Book Capital Square with code PI30EDNLP before you set off, park there, and walk the last 700 metres or so to the hotel.
Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket
Outside the Low Emission Zone, easy to drive to. Past the zone's edge, a car that doesn't meet the standard can reach the hotel without a fine, and parking is cheaper and easier to find. These hotels are within ten minutes' walk of Haymarket station or a short bus, tram or taxi ride from the centre. Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket has its own car park four minutes from Haymarket station: £10 a night, outdoors, paid at reception. It's a 282-room hotel on Morrison Link, four minutes from Haymarket station and 22 from the Castle esplanade, with lifts, accessible rooms and a grill that serves until 9:30pm. A double was about £179 for Tuesday 20 October. More in hotels in the West End and Haymarket.
Spaces are limited and can't be reserved, so on a rugby weekend the car park may be full when you arrive. Rooms show their age and the Morrison Link side hears the traffic.
Take a ticket at the barrier and pay the £10 guest rate at reception. Arrive early on match days, when the car park fills.
Hampton by Hilton Edinburgh West End
Hampton by Hilton Edinburgh West End at 166 Fountainbridge is the family hotel with a car park, £16 a day, and a free hot breakfast on every rate. It has cots, connecting rooms and queen rooms with sofa beds, and it's ten minutes' walk to Haymarket and 21 to the Castle esplanade. A twin was about £230 for Tuesday 20 October with breakfast, taxes and the levy included, or £218 with free Hilton Honors. More in hotels in the West End and Haymarket.
The car park is uncovered with no in-and-out. It's a basic modern block with windows that don't open, and the standard Queen Room sells out early, even midweek in October.
Breakfast is included on every rate, so compare it with room-only prices elsewhere. Leave the car once it's parked; there's no in-and-out.
The Bonham Hotel
The Bonham Hotel is the townhouse hotel for a couple arriving by car. Its small car park behind the building costs £2 an hour, capped at £20 for 24 hours, and has a 7.2 kW EV charger at £4 an hour on top. It can't be booked, but the hotel says it's rarely full. Three Victorian townhouses on Drumsheugh Gardens hold a restaurant, a bar that welcomes dogs and a lift to every floor, on a quiet street 13 minutes from Haymarket. A Superior King was about £288 prepaid for Tuesday 27 October, VAT and the levy included. More in hotels in the West End and Haymarket.
There are six steps at the front door; the step-free route is the ramp from the car park. It's 22 to 25 minutes on foot to the Castle, and breakfast is £22 continental or £28 cooked.
Book the EV charger's time slot up to 24 hours ahead. The ramp in the rear car park is the step-free way in.
The Roseate Edinburgh
The Roseate Edinburgh is the boutique pick for drivers: two restored Victorian villas on West Coates with a private car park, one space per room. It must be booked ahead, and while the book-direct offer runs, parking comes free with breakfast. Downstairs is a whisky bar, a garden and Gary Maclean's KIN restaurant. It's 10 minutes' walk to Haymarket and 35 to the Castle esplanade. A Petite Double was about £216 non-refundable for Tuesday 20 October, or £259 flexible. More in hotels in the West End and Haymarket.
Parking is £20 a night on most of the hotel's pages but £50 on its contact page, so confirm when you reserve. No lift is mentioned and reviewers describe long flights of stairs.
Reserve the space when you book the room, and book direct while the offer includes free parking. Confirm the nightly charge, since one of the hotel's pages says £50.
JA The Bruntsfield
JA The Bruntsfield on the Links has 26 parking spaces at £12.50 a night, with EV charging bays. It's a run of townhouses on Bruntsfield Place with a lift, a bar with heated garden booths and breakfast from 7am. The Meadows are 15 minutes' walk, the Tron 28, and the 11, 15, 16, 23 and 45 buses stop outside. A Standard Double was £140.40 prepaid for Tuesday 10 November, room only, with VAT and the levy included. More in hotels and guesthouses in Bruntsfield, Morningside and the Southside.
Spaces can't be pre-booked, and the car park doesn't take coaches or large vans. On Monday and Tuesday evenings the restaurant runs as a bar only. From the south you reach it on Bruntsfield Place without entering the zone, which starts at Tollcross, a few minutes further in.
Arrive in the afternoon to be sure of one of the 26 spaces, and ask about the EV charging bays at check-in.
The Scott
The Scott has free parking within half an hour's walk of the Old Town. It's the University's country house on the Pollock Halls estate at the foot of Arthur's Seat, with Bonnar's restaurant under an 18th-century painted ceiling, and parking is free for guests, subject to availability. EV chargers are on site on the Fuuse network at normal charging fees. The 30 and 33 buses stop by the gate, and the Tron is 27 minutes on foot. A Cosy Double was £175.50 non-refundable for Tuesday 10 November; the University says its rates include the levy. More in hotels and guesthouses in Bruntsfield, Morningside and the Southside.
There's no lift, the smallest doubles can't take a cot, and Bonnar's serves dinner Tuesday to Saturday only, with last orders at 8:30pm. You arrive along Dalkeith Road without touching the zone.
Parking is free; the EV chargers are not. Ask for a ground-floor room, as there's no lift.
Prestonfield House
Prestonfield House is the splurge with free parking: a 1687 mansion in 20 acres below Arthur's Seat, with a free car park under CCTV, four fast EV charging points and valet parking on request. Rhubarb serves dinner until 10pm, peacocks and Highland cattle roam the grounds, and dogs stay free. The hotel says it's five minutes by taxi to Waverley. The cheapest room was £314.50 for Tuesday 17 November, VAT and the levy included. More in the best places to stay outside Edinburgh.
Buses don't stop at the gate; the nearest, the 51, is 13 minutes' walk away. Weddings and big dinners fill the grounds some nights, and the prepaid deals can't be refunded.
Ask for the valet on arrival, and plug into one of the four fast chargers in the grounds.
Malmaison Edinburgh
Malmaison Edinburgh has free parking for 40 to 50 cars behind the hotel, entered from Tower Street. It's the original Malmaison, in the old Leith Sailors' Home on the Shore, with 100 rooms, a brasserie and a welcome for dogs. The Shore tram stop is six minutes' walk, and the hotel puts the tram at 23 minutes to Waverley. A standard double was £169 prepaid for Tuesday 10 November, levy included, or £188 flexible. More in the best hotels in Leith.
Spaces aren't guaranteed or secured. Rooms vary, some need a short flight of stairs, and breakfast is £23. Leith is well outside the zone, so any car can reach it.
Turn in from Tower Street for the car park behind the hotel, and ask for a harbour-facing room; they're given on request.
Premier Inn Edinburgh Leith Waterfront
Premier Inn Edinburgh Leith Waterfront is a cheap bed with cheap parking: £80 non-refundable for Tuesday 10 November, and the car park is a £6 guest rate. It's beside the fishing harbour at Newhaven, with some rooms over the water and the Newhaven tram eight minutes' walk away, about 25 minutes into the centre. More in the best hotels in Leith.
The walls are thin, air conditioning comes only with Premier Plus rooms, and the attached Brewers Fayre closed in September 2026, so check where you'll eat.
Pay the £6 guest rate as the hotel directs when you arrive; the car park is run by Horizon Parking. Pay the small extra for a harbour-view room.
Holiday Inn Edinburgh
Free parking at the edge of the city and in the airport belt. Out here, parking is free, and the trade is a bus, tram, taxi or drive into town, so the times below are for those rather than on foot. Holiday Inn Edinburgh on Corstorphine Road has 80 free spaces and 16 EV charging points, next door to the zoo. It's a 303-room hotel with a 13-metre pool, family rooms for four and kids eating free, and a bus stop three minutes away puts Princes Street about 21 minutes off. A Double Premium was about £182 room only for Tuesday 20 October. More in hotels near Edinburgh Zoo.
Eighty spaces for 303 rooms go quickly; the overflow is the zoo car park next door at £4 a day for hotel guests, paid to the zoo. Rooms are dated.
Arrive before the evening rush for one of the 80 free spaces. If they're gone, the zoo car park next door charges hotel guests £4 between 10am and 5pm.
Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Murrayfield
Leonardo Hotel Edinburgh Murrayfield, on Clermiston Road on the far side of Corstorphine Hill, has about 100 free spaces. Guests also get a 17-metre pool, sauna, steam room and gym. A Standard Double was about £140 non-refundable for Tuesday 20 October, levy included. More in hotels near Edinburgh Zoo.
Despite the name it isn't near the stadium. The 26 bus from a stop three minutes away takes about 20 minutes into town, but allow 40 or more door to door. The lift serves only the first and second floors, so the third floor and the leisure club mean stairs.
Book a pool slot through reception when you check in. Order the breakfast voucher the day before; it's £2 cheaper.
Travelodge Edinburgh Park
Travelodge Edinburgh Park is a cheap bed with free parking: £74 non-refundable for a Tuesday in mid-November, or £88 flexible, on South Gyle Broadway among the offices. It has king-bed doubles, family rooms and a Bar Café, and Princes Street is a drive or a tram ride away. More in hotels near Edinburgh Airport.
The free spaces are limited, and there's no park-and-fly product. The nearest tram stops are 13 to 15 minutes' walk, so plan to drive or taxi.
Arrive in daylight if you can: the free spaces are limited and go first come, first served. There's no deal for leaving the car while you fly.
Norton House Hotel & Spa
Norton House Hotel & Spa is the country house by the airport with free parking and a BP Pulse charger. It's an 1840 house in 55 acres off the A8, five to ten minutes from the terminal, with an 18-metre pool and a two-Rosette brasserie. The Stay and Fly rate, about £140 for a Classic Double on a mid-November Tuesday, includes a taxi to the airport in the morning. More in hotels near Edinburgh Airport.
Stay and Fly can't be refunded; the flexible room-only rate is £157.50. There's no tram at the door, and drinks and dinner are priced accordingly.
The Stay and Fly rate includes a morning taxi to the terminal. The free shuttle to the Ingliston tram stop runs only three times a day.
Dakota Edinburgh
Dakota Edinburgh gives every guest free parking right outside, and its Park, Stay, Fly package adds 14 days' free parking for a trip abroad. It's a dark, glossy hotel with The Grill and a free gym, at the Ferrymuir junction above South Queensferry, 15 to 20 minutes from the airport, and the 43 bus runs to George Street every 20 minutes. A Classic Double was about £122.50 prepaid room only for Tuesday 10 November, or £133 flexible. More in hotels in South Queensferry.
It sits on a retail park by the motorway, not on the waterfront: the High Street is a 16-minute walk downhill and a steeper one back.
Flying out after your stay? The Park, Stay, Fly package keeps the car here for 14 days free.
Premier Inn Edinburgh A7 (Dalkeith)
Premier Inn Edinburgh A7 (Dalkeith) is the free-parking pick for a van or a big car coming from the south. The car park takes vans and trucks, costs nothing, and the hotel is in Midlothian, so there's no Edinburgh visitor levy either. The free 24-hour Sheriffhall park-and-ride is a seven-minute drive, and the 29 bus from five minutes' walk away reaches South Bridge in 34 minutes. A Standard Double was £113 non-refundable for Tuesday 17 November. More in the best places to stay outside Edinburgh.
Register your car on the reception tablet or risk a charge from the operator. There's no lift, and the attached restaurant gets poor reviews, so eat in Dalkeith or town.
Enter your registration on the reception tablet as soon as you arrive, or the car park operator may send a charge.
The hotel for your car

Older car, central-ish: Premier Inn Lauriston Place, with its partner car park at Capital Square just outside the zone.
Drive-in West End: Leonardo Haymarket at £10 a night, or The Roseate if you want a boutique stay and can pre-book.
Free and close in: The Scott below Arthur's Seat, or Malmaison on the Shore.

Van or large car: Premier Inn Edinburgh A7, free, room for vans, no levy.
What parking at a hotel costs you
First come, first served. Most hotel car parks can't be reserved, including the free ones. Arrive in the afternoon, not at 10pm.
Height limits. Travelodge Central's arch is 2.15 metres, the Radisson's car park 2.10 metres and the station car park on New Street 1.9 metres. Roof boxes and taller vans may not fit.
No in-and-out. Hampton by Hilton charges again if you leave and come back, so for day trips by car a hotel further out makes more sense.
The Low Emission Zone. Every hotel car park in the first group is inside it, and so are the Q-Park Omni, the station car park and St James Quarter. Q-Park Capital Square sits just outside. A car that doesn't comply is fined for driving in to park, even if it goes no further.
Distance. The free car parks are 20 minutes or more from the Royal Mile by bus or tram. Add the fares.
Prices, parking and the rest of the trip
Room rates and parking charges here are dated snapshots, not quotes, and hotels change parking terms without much notice, so check the hotel's own site and ask about the car park when you book.
