Hotels Near King's Cross & St Pancras: Where to Stay for the Eurostar and the Trains (2026)

Nineteen hotels near King's Cross, St Pancras and Euston, each with Google walking minutes to all three stations: St. Pancras London is part of St Pancras, Kaya Great Northern and the Standard are a minute away, and Travelodge Central Euston is a minute from Euston. Each card says whether the desk is staffed all night, whether there's a lift, and what a November Tuesday cost.

Hotels near King's Cross & St Pancras 19 beds for the Eurostar and the trains north

Stay here if the trip starts or ends on a train. King's Cross (LNER, Grand Central and Hull Trains), St Pancras International (the Eurostar to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam) and Euston (Avanti West Coast and the Caledonian Sleeper) are under a kilometre apart along Euston Road, and King's Cross St Pancras station is on six lines of the subway (the Tube). The closest beds: St. Pancras London, Autograph Collection is built into St Pancras, Kaya Great Northern Hotel is a minute from both King's Cross and St Pancras, and Travelodge London Central Euston is a minute from Euston. Don't stay here for charm. Euston Road carries heavy traffic day and night, the pavements round the stations are busy late, and the cheapest rooms are small. If you're choosing an area rather than a station, start with where to stay in London; the hotels south of Euston Road, around Russell Square and Tavistock Square, are Bloomsbury's.

The page is in three groups: the hotels on and across the station forecourts, the townhouse hotels of Argyle Square and the top of Gray's Inn Road a few minutes south-east, and the Euston end of Euston Road. Every card gives three walking times from Google's map, from the hotel to King's Cross's front on Euston Road, to St Pancras International at its Euston Road end, and to Euston's front, so you can compare like with like; add a minute or two to reach your platform. Then the things a train traveller asks: whether the desk is staffed all night, whether there's a lift or only stairs, whether they'll hold a bag, and when breakfast starts. For the Eurostar, Standard and Plus passengers are asked to arrive 75 minutes before departure (the gate closes at 30) and Premier passengers 45 (the gate closes at 15). The first Paris train leaves at about 6am, which means being at St Pancras by about 4:45am, before any published hotel breakfast here; the cards say who can feed you anyway.

The rates are for one night on Tuesday 10 November 2026, two adults, the cheapest double on each hotel's own booking engine, checked on 23 September 2026, with 17 November alongside where it differed. St. Pancras London had only suites left on both Tuesdays; the two nights before 10 November started at about £352 on Booking.com. Prices include 20% VAT and London has no tourist tax yet, so what you see is what you pay (the Standard adds an optional 5% service charge). Use them to rank these hotels against each other, not as a quote. Station hotels move with the city's calendar: the Christmas-lights weeks from mid-November, the summer holidays and big event nights push them up, and January and February are the cheapest months.

St. Pancras London, Autograph Collection

1 minute to the Eurostar. St. Pancras London, Autograph Collection is the hotel built into the station: Sir George Gilbert Scott's Midland Grand Hotel, opened in 1873, closed in 1935, saved from demolition and reopened in 2011 as the St Pancras Renaissance. Marriott renamed it in June 2025, so it's the same red-brick Gothic front on Euston Road under a new name. The door is 36 metres from St Pancras International's Euston Road end, a one-minute walk, with King's Cross four minutes away and Euston eight. There's a spa with a pool, the Booking Office 1869 bar and restaurant in the old ticket hall, and 243 rooms: 36 suites and 207 bedrooms. For a Eurostar traveller who wants the trip to start with the building, this is my first choice.

Know what you're buying. The rooms at the entry price are in Barlow House, the newer wing behind; the Victorian building, the Chambers, is suites, and the hotel says Barlow House bookings aren't upgraded into it. November Tuesdays are the other catch: on both 10 and 17 November only Chambers Junior Suites were left on Booking.com, from £713, while the two nights before started around £352. Check-in is from 3pm, bags are held until the room is ready, and Chambers suite guests can be walked to the Eurostar platform between 8am and 7pm with 72 hours' notice. A Google reviewer's reason for booking is the right one: "you can't beat the convenience of direct access to St Pancras / Kings Cross."

Price: from about £352 a night on quieter November nights (Booking.com, Sun 8 and Mon 9 Nov 2026 at about £352 to £369, possibly a member price, checked 18 Sep 2026); on Tue 10 and Tue 17 Nov 2026 only Chambers Junior Suites were left, from £713 and £740 non-refundable (Booking.com, checked 23 Sep 2026) Hours: Check-in 3pm; bags held until the room is ready; Booking Office 1869 opens at 7am daily
Tip

The Victorian rooms are the Chambers suites; standard rooms are in the newer Barlow House wing, and the hotel doesn't upgrade Barlow House bookings into the Chambers. Chambers suite guests can be escorted to the Eurostar platform (8am to 7pm, 72 hours' notice).

Kaya Great Northern Hotel

1 minute to both. Kaya Great Northern Hotel is the old Great Northern, opened in 1854 to a design by Lewis Cubitt and billed by the hotel as the oldest railway hotel in London. Its curved front follows the line of Pancras Road between the two stations, which puts it a minute from King's Cross's Euston Road front, a minute from St Pancras International and a minute from the Tube. For the trains north from King's Cross (LNER, Grand Central and Hull Trains) it is the closest bed there is. It now trades under the Kaya name, with the RAILS restaurant and a small bar on the first floor and the GNH Bar and terrace at street level. On Tuesday 10 November the cheapest room, a 14-square-metre Couchette modelled on a sleeper berth, was £363.80 room only and non-refundable.

That price is the catch: it's a lot for 14 square metres, and on 17 November the same room was £413. Heritage rooms (18 square metres, queen bed) have the tall sash windows looking at King's Cross station, and Edwardian rooms are up in the eaves. Bags are held before check-in and after check-out, dogs up to 20kg pay £50 a stay, cots are free, and there's no gym or car park. Breakfast adds about £38 for two, so book the Couchette for a one-night train stop and a Heritage room if you're staying longer.

Tip

The 14 sq m Couchette is built like a sleeper berth, fine for one night. For daylight and a view of King's Cross station, book a Heritage room (18 sq m, tall sash windows); Edwardian rooms are in the eaves on the top floor.

The convenience of being able to walk straight off a train and within 60 seconds be inside this magnificent hotel should not be underestimated. from a visitor review

The Standard, London

1 minute to St Pancras. The Standard, London is the design hotel across Euston Road from St Pancras: a former Brutalist landmark turned into 266 bright, playful rooms, with Decimo on the roof, Isla for wine and dinner, Sweeties for late drinks and Double Standard, the ground-floor bar with a beer garden. Google gives one minute to St Pancras International, three to King's Cross and ten to Euston. It's the pick for a couple who want the trip to start with a drink rather than a lobby, and for dog owners, because dogs stay free.

Read the room names on the Hyatt engine before you pay. The cheapest room, a Standard King Interior at £409 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November, has no window; a Standard Queen with one was £423 (£415 for World of Hyatt members), and the prices were the same on the 17th. There's a lift, secure luggage storage until your room is ready and a 24/7 gym, but the bill adds an optional 5% service charge and the card hold is £100 a night. Recent Google reviews swing between praise for the staff and complaints about housekeeping, so book it for the bars and the design, and pay the extra £14 for a window.

Tip

The cheapest King is an interior room with no window; the Standard Queen has one for about £14 more. Premium View King rooms have the skyline. There is a lift, and bags are held until check-in.

The location opposite King’s Cross is incredibly convenient, but what makes the hotel memorable is the atmosphere. from a visitor review

The Megaro

2 minutes to St Pancras. The Megaro is the independent five-star in the multicoloured building at 1 Belgrove Street, facing St Pancras across Euston Road: Google puts it two minutes from St Pancras, four from King's Cross and 11 from Euston, and the King's Cross St Pancras Tube entrance is under a minute away. The rooms are themed (Pop Diva, Diesel corner suites, Signature Design), Spagnoletti serves Italian food from breakfast through dinner, and Hokus Pokus is a cocktail bar underground. It is one of the few hotels by the stations that ticks every box a train traveller needs: a 24-hour reception, a lift, a luggage store and air conditioning.

The best-value room is the plainest. Essential rooms (queen bed, 23 to 30 square metres) were £323 non-refundable on both November Tuesdays, £380 flexible, and they're larger than the Signature Design rooms, which one reviewer found 'rather small'. Breakfast adds about £50 for two. The honest downside is the corner it sits on. Euston Road traffic runs past, a reviewer in August had a night of construction drilling outside a third-floor window, and a regular guest's warning is fair: "if you're a light sleeper, this may not be the hotel for you." Ask when you book whether the street works are still running.

Tip

The Essential rooms are the cheapest and the biggest of the standard categories (23 to 30 sq m); the Signature Design rooms above them are smaller. Diesel Corner Suites (34 sq m) look over King's Cross from the corners of the building.

It’s right in the heart of Kings Cross (directly across from St. Pancras), so if you’re a light sleeper, this may not be the hotel for you. from a visitor review

Premier Inn London King's Cross

3 minutes to King's Cross. Premier Inn London King's Cross is on York Way, the street down the east side of King's Cross station, which makes it the cheap, reliable bed on the King's Cross side: three minutes to the station front, five to St Pancras and two to the Tube. It's a standard Premier Inn with lifts, air conditioning in every room, family rooms with a sofa bed and free cots, a restaurant for breakfast and dinner, and luggage facilities. A Standard double was £188 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November, less than either Premier Inn St Pancras or hub by Premier Inn that night; on the 17th it was £220.

The reviews that complain are about the hardware, not the location: lifts out of order during one two-week stay, a breakfast buffet slow to be restocked, and beds too firm for some. Premier Plus rooms, £29 more, add a coffee machine and a mini-fridge. Check-in is from 2pm (11am if you pay extra), and the nearest parking is the St Pancras car park at £36 a day with a 2-metre height limit. For a family with a car and an early train, that combination is hard to beat at the price.

hub by Premier Inn London King's Cross

8 minutes to King's Cross. hub by Premier Inn London King's Cross is the chain's compact format, on Wharfdale Road north-east of the station towards Regent's Canal. The hotel says seven minutes to King's Cross St Pancras; Google makes it eight to the King's Cross front, ten to St Pancras and 19 to Euston. Rooms are 11 square metres and app-controlled, with under-bed storage and a slide-out desk, and the building has a lift, air conditioning and a Deli + Bar. It suits a solo traveller, or a couple with one small case each, who wants a newer room for less.

For two, book the Bigger room: 14 square metres with a king-size bed you can get out of on both sides, £223 against £206 for the Standard on 10 November. Breakfast is a box from the Deli + Bar, from 6:30am on weekdays and 7am at weekends on the chain's published times for its hub hotels, early enough for most trains but not the first Eurostar. There's no tea or coffee in the rooms (Google reviewers say the bar's is free around the clock), no car park, and a 2pm late check-out costs £10. For a summer stay, note one recent review: the air conditioning couldn't cope and the windows don't open.

The Gyle

4 minutes to St Pancras. The Gyle is the Megaro's quieter sister: 41 rooms across three Victorian townhouses on Argyle Square, the garden square just south-east of the stations, pitched by its owners as a calmer way to stay in King's Cross. Google makes it four minutes to St Pancras, five to King's Cross and 13 to Euston. Every room has air conditioning, the 24-hour reception keeps bags, breakfast and drinks are in the Lounge, and dogs are welcome. For a couple who would rather wake up on a square than on Euston Road, it's my pick of the Argyle Square hotels.

The entry room is small, though. A Gyle Double is 12 square metres, and it was £302 non-refundable on both November Tuesdays (£355 flexible, £385 with breakfast); the Large King, 19 square metres with drawers under the bed for cases, was £361.25. No lift is listed, which in a townhouse means stairs, so ask for a low floor if you're carrying anything heavy, and expect townhouse walls: one reviewer found them paper thin. The staff get the praise, down to helping one group push their luggage all the way to King's Cross.

It's a beautiful place, a small boutique hotel, and very good value. from a visitor review

The Jesmond Dene

2 minutes to St Pancras. The Jesmond Dene is the en-suite brand of the St Pancras Hotel Group, a family business in a terrace of converted Grade II-listed townhouses at 31 Argyle Street that the group says it has run since the 1970s. It's two minutes from St Pancras, four from King's Cross and 11 from Euston, the reception is open 24 hours, and a Standard Double with its own shower and toilet was £132 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November (£152 flexible). That was less than any other en-suite double two minutes from St Pancras in this guide that night.

It's small and it's stairs. The double is 12 square metres, and a reviewer puts the bed at 140cm; there's no restaurant and no breakfast; air conditioning is an extra you add at booking, and only in some rooms; and the group lists a lift only for its Suites. Ground-floor rooms can be requested, which is the tip I'd act on with a case. A Google reviewer who arrived after midnight found the desk staffed and put the drawback plainly: "my room was on the top floor (4th I think) and there was no lift."

Access: Townhouse stairs; the group lists a lift for its Suites only; ground-floor rooms on request
Tip

Ask for a ground-floor room: the group lists a lift only for its Suites, not the Jesmond Dene rooms. Air conditioning is in some rooms only, as a paid extra you add when booking.

Only issue was my room was on the top floor (4th I think) and there was no lift. from a visitor review

The Crestfield Hotel

3 minutes to St Pancras. The Crestfield Hotel is where I'd send a solo traveller or a late Eurostar arrival counting every pound: 52 rooms, all en suite, in an 1830s Georgian terrace on Crestfield Street, run by the same owners for more than 30 years. Google gives three minutes to St Pancras, four to King's Cross and 12 to Euston. A Double of 11 square metres was £125.10 for Tuesday 10 November, and the engine only sells a flexible rate, free to cancel up to 24 hours before arrival under the hotel's terms. The reception is open 24 hours, and the hotel says plainly that late-night and early-morning arrivals and departures are not a problem.

What you give up is space, air conditioning and a lift. Rooms are compact (reviewers say cases fit under the beds), there are ceiling fans rather than air con, the booking engine lists stairs and no lift, and there's no breakfast, just a drinks counter. Street noise depends on the room, so ask for one at the back. For one night before a train, it's honest value.

Book the Double (11 sq m) or Twin (12 sq m) rather than a single if you need to open a case; a reviewer found bags fit under the beds. Ask for a room at the back if street noise bothers you. Fans, not air conditioning.

Point A Hotel London, Kings Cross - St Pancras

6 minutes to King's Cross. Point A Hotel London, Kings Cross - St Pancras is the one to book for breakfast before a morning train: it's free when you book direct, and it starts at 6:30am on weekdays (7am at weekends). The hotel is on Gray's Inn Road, six minutes from King's Cross, seven from St Pancras and 16 from Euston by Google's clock, with a reception staffed 24/7, air conditioning, and a bar and lounge downstairs. On Tuesday 10 November a Cosy Double with a window (about 11 square metres) was £200.88 non-refundable or £223.20 flexible, breakfast included, both with the free A List membership the engine applies automatically.

The rooms are built for sleeping: 11 square metres, a small bathroom, and windowless versions £9 cheaper that I'd skip (a reviewer in a basement room had only a strip of window at the top). Rooms take two guests at most and there's no space for a cot, so it isn't a family hotel. Bags cost £3 each to store before check-in or after check-out, and never overnight; early check-in at noon is £15 and a 3pm check-out £25. For a solo traveller or a couple on a morning Eurostar, the free breakfast makes it very good value.

The Alhambra Hotel

2 minutes to St Pancras. The Alhambra Hotel is the budget townhouse with the most useful habits for a train traveller: a 24/7 reception, check-in from 1pm, free storage for up to two bags a person on the day you leave, and a £7.50 breakfast box (a pastry, granola bar, muffin, juice, yoghurt and fruit) sold at reception around the clock, so breakfast is sorted even for the first Eurostar. The hotel says it has been in the same family since 1950. Google gives two minutes to St Pancras, four to King's Cross and 11 to Euston.

Everything else is small. The Double Ensuite is 12 square metres with the shower and toilet in the room itself; it was £139.86 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November (£154.98 flexible), and the cheaper Basic rooms share a bathroom on the same floor. There are fans, not air conditioning, and reviewers say there's no lift, so ask for a low floor. Triples (15 square metres) at £161.32 and quads (16, with two doubles) at £168.72 are a cheap family option this close to the station, as long as nobody minds a very small bathroom.

The California

2 minutes to St Pancras. The California is the budget end of the Megaro Collection, a city guest house in the townhouses at 4 to 8 Belgrove Street, next door to the Megaro. It's two minutes from St Pancras, four from King's Cross and 12 from Euston, with a 24-hour reception, a luggage store, a bar and lounge and a terrace, and the widest range of room types near the stations: solo singles, family rooms for four and Townhouse Group Suites of 35 square metres that sleep six. It takes dogs too. For a family or a group who want to be steps from the Eurostar without paying Megaro prices, it's the one I'd look at first.

The rate to book is the autumn offer: £189 with breakfast and free cancellation until the day before, against £178.50 non-refundable room only, the same on both November Tuesdays. Doubles are compact. There's no lift (the reviews are consistent on it, and one guest had a fourth-floor room) and the stairs are narrow, so with heavy bags ask for a low floor when you book. One reviewer thought it overdue a refresh; a four-star reviewer liked the rooms and named the one real problem: "there's no elevator, which can be difficult with luggage- although they did offer to help me carry mine."

Hotel Meridiana

3 minutes to St Pancras, if you arrive before 11:30pm. Hotel Meridiana is a family-run townhouse on the south side of Argyle Square, trading since 1958 with live-in managers, and my pick for a quiet night near the stations: a reviewer describes the square as free of road traffic, and some en-suite rooms look onto its garden. Google gives three minutes to St Pancras, five to King's Cross and 12 to Euston. A Double Ensuite was £152 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November (£160 flexible), and a basic twin sharing a corridor bathroom was £99.75.

The limit is in its FAQ: there's no 24-hour reception, and check-in has to be done by 11:30pm, so it doesn't suit a late Eurostar arrival or a delayed train unless you arrange it with the hotel first. There's no lift (the basic rooms are on the third floor), no air conditioning and no breakfast, though bags can be left at reception after check-out. Ask for a double on the ground floor, and pack earplugs: a reviewer found the walls thin.

Access: No lift; Basic rooms on the third floor, en-suite doubles on the ground and first floors
Tip

Ask for a Double En Suite on the ground floor for no stairs; some of the doubles overlook the square's garden. Avoid the Basic rooms with luggage (third floor, no lift, corridor bathroom).

One negative: the walls are thin and you can hear everything. But nothing that earplugs don’t resolve. from a visitor review

Travelodge London Central Kings Cross

4 minutes to King's Cross. Travelodge London Central Kings Cross has the earliest published breakfast by the stations: the Bar Café's unlimited breakfast starts at 6am on weekdays (7am at weekends and bank holidays), and the hotel is staffed 24/7. It's in Willings House on Gray's Inn Road, four minutes from King's Cross, five from St Pancras and 14 from Euston by Google's reckoning (the hotel itself says five to seven). A Standard Room with a king-size bed was £149.99 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November and £161.99 a week later.

The trade-offs are real. Standard rooms have no air conditioning (only SuperRooms, £198.99, do), the lift stops at the fourth floor and the fifth is stairs only, and reviewers mention trains rumbling past and noise from a bar next door. So in summer, pay for a SuperRoom, and use the Choose Your Room tool in Manage Booking to pick a floor away from the railway. Bags are held from 9am to 5pm. It's the cheap, early-breakfast option for one night before a train, not a hotel to linger in.

Rooms are a good size, although fairly basic. from a visitor review

Pullman London St Pancras

3 minutes to St Pancras, 6 to Euston. Pullman London St Pancras is the big full-service hotel between the stations: 312 rooms over 16 floors at 100 to 110 Euston Road, next to the Shaw Theatre, three minutes from St Pancras, six from King's Cross and six from Euston. It's the hotel I'd suggest to a family or a business traveller who wants proper infrastructure: lifts to every floor, a luggage store, 30 family rooms and 48 connecting ones, 13 rooms for guests with reduced mobility, a 24/7 gym with a sauna, and GA KingsX for dinner and gin. It is fully cashless.

Pay for height and the back. Classic rooms are 21 square metres, king or twin; ask for a high floor for the skyline and a room away from Euston Road, which is how one reviewer got a quiet night. On Tuesday 10 November a Classic king was £379 non-refundable, £341.10 with the free ALL membership, and £399 flexible; the 17th was dearer at £429. Reviews mention warm corridors in the May heatwave, and one guest found the desk's taxi nearly twice the price of an Uber, but for a family with luggage it's the easiest big hotel between the stations.

Access: Wheelchair accessible; 13 rooms for guests with reduced mobility; lifts to all 16 floors
Tip

Join ALL (free) before booking: it took about £38 off the 10 November rate. Ask for a high floor for the skyline and a room away from Euston Road. Superior rooms add a sofa bed for a third person.

Euston station, King's Cross station, as well as St Pancras International are all just a few minutes walk away. from a visitor review

Premier Inn London St Pancras

2 minutes to St Pancras, 7 to Euston. Premier Inn London St Pancras at 88 Euston Road sits between two of the three stations: two minutes from St Pancras, six from King's Cross and seven from Euston, with the British Library three minutes away by the hotel's reckoning. It has air conditioning in every room, lifts, family rooms with a sofa bed and free cots, accessible rooms with lowered baths or wet rooms, and free Stasher lockers for up to six hours (still listed in its FAQ, though they began as a trial). Its bar-restaurant, The Social, is open 24 hours with a team on all night, which matters if you're arriving off a late train. A Standard double was £225 non-refundable on 10 November and £220 on the 17th.

There's no front desk in the usual sense: you check in at kiosks by scanning a QR code, and reviewers say they're on the second floor, not the ground. Some guests dislike that; for a one-night Eurostar stop it's quick. Premier Plus (£266 on the 10th) adds a coffee machine and a mini-fridge, and 'landmark view' rooms are allocated at check-in, not guaranteed. For a hotel on Euston Road, one reviewer's praise is the useful kind: the room was "especially well soundproofed."

Travelodge London Central Euston

1 minute to Euston. Travelodge London Central Euston is the closest bed to Euston: Grafton Place, off Eversholt Street, 59 metres from the station, with St Pancras seven minutes away and King's Cross ten. For an early Avanti West Coast train, nothing is closer. It's staffed 24/7 and air-conditioned, with snacks at reception around the clock and an unlimited breakfast in the Bar Café from 7am on weekdays (8am at weekends). A Standard Room was £184.99 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November.

It's a budget box beside a building site: HS2 works have closed Euston's car park for good, and the nearest parking is the St Pancras car park at £55 for 12 to 24 hours on a weekday. The SuperRoom (£208.99) is on its own floor with a better shower and a coffee machine, and it's the one I'd book. Reviewers are mixed on the front desk and one noticed a damp smell, but the air conditioning gets steady praise, and so does the location.

Tip

The SuperRoom is on its own floor with a better shower and a coffee machine, £24 more. No parking: the Euston station car park has closed for HS2 works, and the St Pancras car park is £55 for 12 to 24 hours on a weekday.

The room was perfectly fine and the location near Euston station is hard to beat. from a visitor review

The Wesley Euston

4 minutes to Euston. The Wesley Euston is an independent hotel and conference venue on Euston Street, behind the station, and it sells itself on sustainability: Camden Council named it a Carbon Champion. It's four minutes from Euston's front on Google's map, two from Euston Square station by the hotel's, and the hotel's own tip is to leave Euston by its back entrance rather than the main road. The reception is available 24/7, there are lifts and accessible toilets, air conditioning in the rooms, a 24/7 gym, and The Wesley Bar & Kitchen, where the buffet breakfast starts at 7am on weekdays and 7:30am at weekends.

It's a Euston hotel, not a Eurostar one: Google makes it 14 minutes to St Pancras and 18 to King's Cross. A Standard Double (11 to 13 square metres, queen bed) was £250.29 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November with the 10% book-direct discount, £278.10 flexible; the Superior Double (14 to 16 square metres) is the one to book for space. It's card-only, bags are stored on the day you leave but not overnight, and the main doors lock at midnight, when your room key opens a side panel. Some reviewers find it dated for the price, though the air conditioning gets praise in summer.

Access: Lifts and accessible toilets; accessible rooms bookable
Tip

The Superior Double (14 to 16 sq m) is the room for space. Arriving from Euston, leave by the station's back entrance, as the hotel suggests. Card payments only; bags stored on your departure day, not overnight.

The rooms are small by US standards but they are well built and comfortably air conditioned in the summer. from a visitor review

Euston Square Hotel

5 minutes to Euston. Euston Square Hotel is a small independent on North Gower Street, just off Euston Road by Euston Square station: five minutes from Euston, 12 from St Pancras and 16 from King's Cross. The rooms have air conditioning, Hypnos beds and double glazing, and Gest, the ground-floor restaurant and bar, serves a continental or full English breakfast from 7am on weekdays and 7:30am at weekends. It suits a couple catching a train from Euston who want a restaurant downstairs rather than a chain café.

The rooms are the catch. A Double is 9 to 13 square metres and was £256.70 non-refundable on Tuesday 10 November; the engine also offers a Windowless Double (£230.35 on the 17th), which I'd avoid, and the Superior Double (14 to 20 square metres, £273.70) is the room with space to open a case. The hotel's site doesn't say whether the desk is open all night or whether there's a lift, so ask before booking if either matters. A reviewer mentions ambulances from the hospital nearby, so a back room is worth asking for.

Tip

Doubles run from 9 to 13 sq m, so book the Superior Double (14 to 20 sq m) if you'll unpack, and skip the Windowless Double the engine sometimes offers for less. Ask about the desk hours and lift before booking.

── the quick answer

Which hotel near King's Cross, by what you need

The Eurostar, with a budget to match: St. Pancras London, which is part of the station; the Standard or the Megaro across Euston Road for design and a bar scene.

The first train out: sleep as close as you can (St. Pancras London, Kaya Great Northern and the Standard are a minute from St Pancras) and take breakfast with you. The Alhambra sells a £7.50 breakfast box at its 24-hour reception. The earliest hotel breakfasts are at Travelodge London Central Kings Cross (6am on weekdays), Point A (6:30am) and hub by Premier Inn (6:30am on the chain's published times).

Trains north from King's Cross: Kaya Great Northern (1 minute), then the Standard and Premier Inn London King's Cross (3 minutes each).

Trains from Euston: Travelodge London Central Euston (1 minute), the Wesley (4), Euston Square Hotel (5), the Pullman (6).

A late arrival: the desks that say they are staffed all night are the Megaro, the Gyle, the California, the Alhambra, the Jesmond Dene, the Crestfield, Point A, both Travelodges and the Wesley. Premier Inn St Pancras has a team in The Social 24/7. Hotel Meridiana stops checking in at 11:30pm.

A heavy case and no stairs: the Standard, the Megaro, the three Premier Inns, the Pullman and the Wesley all have lifts; Travelodge Central Kings Cross has one to the fourth floor. The townhouse hotels around Argyle Square (the Gyle, the California, the Alhambra, the Jesmond Dene, the Crestfield and Hotel Meridiana) list no lift for their ordinary rooms.

Budget: the Crestfield at £125.10 with free cancellation, the Jesmond Dene at £132, the Alhambra at £139.86 and Travelodge Central Kings Cross at £149.99.

Breakfast in the price: Point A (free when you book direct, from £200.88) and the California's autumn rate (£189).

Families: the Pullman (30 family rooms and 48 connecting), the Premier Inns at King's Cross and St Pancras (sofa beds, free cots), the California (family rooms for four, group suites for six) and the Alhambra's quads.

Quiet: Hotel Meridiana on Argyle Square, if you're in before 11:30pm; the Gyle; or a high room at the back of the Pullman.

── the honest trade-offs

What sleeping next to three stations costs you

Noise. Euston Road runs past the front of St. Pancras London, the Standard, the Megaro, the Pullman and Premier Inn St Pancras, and it doesn't stop at night. The Megaro has had street works outside, and reviewers at Travelodge Central Kings Cross hear the trains. Ask for a high floor at the back every time.

Stairs. The hotels around Argyle Square, Belgrove Street and Crestfield Street are converted townhouses, and none of them lists a lift for its ordinary rooms. Ask for the ground or first floor, or book a hotel with a lift if anyone in the party can't manage four flights with a case.

Small and windowless rooms. The cheapest room at the Standard has no window, Point A sells windowless rooms £9 cheaper, Euston Square's Windowless Double was about £30 under its ordinary Double on 17 November, Kaya's Couchette is 14 square metres and hub by Premier Inn's Standard room 11. Read the room name before you pay.

Heat. The Alhambra, the Crestfield and Hotel Meridiana have fans rather than air conditioning, the Jesmond Dene charges extra for it in some rooms, and at Travelodge Central Kings Cross only the SuperRooms have it. From May to September that matters.

Busy nights. On both November Tuesdays St. Pancras London had only suites left, and the 17th was dearer than the 10th at Kaya, the Pullman and Premier Inn King's Cross. If your dates are fixed, the flexible rate is worth the extra.

── the next ring out

If these are full

Just south of Euston Road, in Bloomsbury, four hotels sell themselves on Euston: Premier Inn London Euston on Duke's Road (4 minutes to Euston, 6 to St Pancras; no air conditioning and windows that don't open), Hilton London Euston on Upper Woburn Place (5 to Euston), and two small-room hotels a few doors along, The Memoir Club (6 to Euston, 7 to St Pancras, breakfast included when you book direct) and Four Points Flex by Sheraton London Euston (6 to Euston, rooms from 8 square metres). They're Bloomsbury hotels, and the Bloomsbury section of where to stay in London covers that area.

East of the stations: King's Cross Express Inn on King's Cross Road (6 minutes to King's Cross; small air-conditioned rooms, several without windows), and Crowne Plaza London - Kings Cross, the former Holiday Inn, which is 14 minutes' walk from King's Cross despite the name but has lifts, a buffet breakfast from 6:30am on weekdays and parking at £32.50 a night. DoubleTree by Hilton London Angel Kings Cross is 13 minutes away and really an Angel hotel. Two names you'll still see on older lists: the ibis London Euston St Pancras has closed permanently, and the Clink78 hostel on King's Cross Road is closed for now.

── before you book

Prices, luggage and timing

Each card carries its own rate, the Tuesday it was for and the day it was checked (23 September 2026; 18 September for St. Pancras London's quieter nights). Several engines show a lower price to members of a free scheme (World of Hyatt at the Standard, ALL at the Pullman, the A List at Point A), and non-refundable rates are the cheapest everywhere; the cards give the flexible price where it matters. VAT is included and London has no tourist tax yet.

Left luggage at King's Cross and Euston is run by the Excess Baggage Company, 7am to 11pm Monday to Friday by Network Rail's listing. Most of these hotels will hold a bag instead; Point A charges £3 a bag, the Alhambra stores two a person free on the day you leave, and Premier Inn St Pancras lists free lockers for up to six hours.

Once the bed is booked, the where to stay in London guide compares every other area, and the London trip-cost guide covers the rest of the budget.

── frequently asked

Frequently asked questions.

Which hotel is closest to St Pancras station and the Eurostar?
St. Pancras London, Autograph Collection, which is part of the station building: its door is 36 metres from St Pancras International's Euston Road end, a one-minute walk. Kaya Great Northern Hotel, on Pancras Road between St Pancras and King's Cross, and The Standard, across Euston Road, are also one minute away. At two minutes come the Megaro, the California, the Alhambra, the Jesmond Dene and Premier Inn London St Pancras. For the Eurostar itself, arrive 75 minutes before departure in Standard or Plus and 45 in Premier.
Which hotels are closest to Euston station?
Travelodge London Central Euston, on Grafton Place beside the station, is one minute from Euston's front. North of Euston Road, The Wesley Euston is four minutes away, Euston Square Hotel five and Pullman London St Pancras six, halfway to St Pancras. Just south of Euston Road, in Bloomsbury, Premier Inn London Euston is four minutes, Hilton London Euston five, and The Memoir Club and Four Points Flex by Sheraton six. Euston station is on the Northern and Victoria lines, and Euston Square station on the Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines.
Is King's Cross a good area to stay in London?
Yes, for trains and value, with caveats. King's Cross St Pancras station is on six Tube lines (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria), the Eurostar leaves from St Pancras, and a double with its own bathroom started at £125.10 on a November Tuesday. The trade-offs are the traffic on Euston Road, crowds round the stations until late, small rooms in the cheaper hotels, and stairs in the townhouse ones. For a quieter night, pick a hotel on Argyle Square, a few minutes south-east of the stations, and a room at the back.
How early do I need to be at St Pancras for the Eurostar, and can I get breakfast first?
Eurostar asks Standard and Plus passengers to arrive 75 minutes before departure (the gate closes 30 minutes before) and Premier passengers 45 minutes before (the gate closes at 15). The first train to Paris leaves at about 6am, so that means being at St Pancras by about 4:45am. Hotel breakfasts start later: 6am on weekdays at Travelodge London Central Kings Cross, 6:30am at Point A and hub by Premier Inn, and 7am at the others that publish a time. For the first train, the Alhambra sells a £7.50 breakfast box at its 24-hour reception, so you can take breakfast with you.
Is there left luggage at King's Cross and Euston?
Yes. Both stations have a left-luggage office run by the Excess Baggage Company, open 7am to 11pm Monday to Friday according to Network Rail. If you're staying nearby you may not need it: most of the hotels here hold bags before check-in and after check-out. The ones with conditions are Point A (£3 a bag, never overnight), the Alhambra (two bags a person free on the day you leave, then £6 a bag a day), Travelodge London Central Kings Cross (9am to 5pm only) and the Wesley (on your departure day only). Premier Inn London St Pancras lists free lockers for up to six hours.
