A Heathrow hotel earns its keep when the flight sets the timetable: a check-in before dawn, a landing too late to face the Tube, a car to leave for a fortnight, or six hours to kill between connections. For a London trip, sleep in London. The Heathrow Express gets to Paddington in about 15 minutes and the Elizabeth line in under half an hour, so a hotel in town costs you very little time; see where to stay in London for the areas, and the Paddington hotels if you want to be at the Heathrow Express terminus. My short answer at the airport itself: the Sofitel for Terminal 5 if you want to walk to check-in, the Holiday Inn Express T4 for a dawn Terminal 4 flight (breakfast from 5am), the Hilton Garden Inn for Terminals 2 and 3, the Premier Inn Terminal 4 for the cheapest bed you can walk from, and the Thistle Terminal 5 for a cheap fortnight's park-and-fly.
Work out your terminal before you pick. Heathrow has four terminals, 2, 3, 4 and 5 (Terminal 1 closed in 2015, though a few hotel websites still list it), and they're far apart: Terminal 5 is on the western edge, Terminal 4 alone on the south side, and 2 and 3 in the middle. So this guide is grouped by terminal, then by how you reach it: covered walkway, pod or bus for Terminal 5; covered walkways at Terminal 4; the two places inside the central area; the Bath Road hotels on the Hotel Hoppa; and one further out. Every hotel gets its link to the terminal with Google's walking or driving time, the parking or park-and-fly price the hotel publishes, its breakfast and late-food hours, the honest catch, and a dated rate. The Hoppa is £7 a person each way, £13 return, and trains between the terminals are free, as is the H30 bus from Hatton Cross.
The prices are what two adults would have paid for one room on Tuesday 10 November 2026, read on each hotel's own booking engine on 25 September 2026 unless the card says Booking.com. They include 20 per cent VAT, London has no tourist tax yet, and they range from £50 at the ibis to £229.60 for an overnight at Aerotel. They're for comparing hotels, not quotes: airport rates move with the date like any London hotel, and school-holiday weeks cost more, so check your own night.
