If you book one steak dinner in London, make it Hawksmoor Air Street, three minutes from Piccadilly Circus. A 350g (12oz) sirloin is £44 and a 350g rib-eye £45, the beef comes from native-breed, grass-fed cattle grilled over charcoal, and the lunch menu gets you a dry-aged rump and a side for £21. For a City dinner, Goodman by Bank is the other top-tier steakhouse. For a cheap steak done properly, Flat Iron in Soho serves its flat iron steak for £15.
The cards are grouped by kind. The classic steakhouses come first (Hawksmoor, Goodman, Gaucho, Smith & Wollensky, Boisdale), then the Argentine and Italian grills, then the places for a cheaper steak, then three splurges for Wagyu and aged Galician beef. Hawksmoor, Gaucho, Goodman, Flat Iron, Blacklock and Macellaio RC are groups with several London branches, so each card names the one branch I'd pick; Buen Ayre, Santa Maria del Sur, Lurra and Mr. Steak are independents. Every card gives the nearest station, and most are on the Tube (the subway).
Prices come from each restaurant's own current menu, checked on 28 September 2026. Steaks in London are sold by weight, in grams, so I've added ounces for the main cuts (350g is about 12oz). Chips and sauces are usually extra, and most places add a discretionary service charge of 12.5% to 15%, which is the tip. Hawksmoor Seven Dials is on my list of the best Sunday roasts in London, and Goodman Mayfair's burger is in the best burgers in London.
